Build & Materials

The 150-count is built in Marshall's Sherman Oaks, California workshop. The exterior is a burl walnut veneer cut from a single slab, mounted over an HDF substrate that holds its shape better than solid walnut across humidity cycles. The interior is solid Spanish cedar, kiln-dried to 7% moisture content — low enough that the box reaches equilibrium with its own contents in 48 hours.

The lid carries seven coats of high-piano lacquer, hand-rubbed between coats. The hinges are quadrant brass with a soft-stop; there's no slam, no rattle, no settling. Every unit is signed by Marshall on the underside of the lid.

RH Calibration

Briarwood seasons every humidor before it ships. We charge the Spanish cedar interior with distilled water over five days, then install the Boveda 84 cell and let the box settle at 70°F / 70% RH for another two days. By the time it lands at your door, the box is already holding spec.

The factory hygrometer is a quartz analog, calibrated at the Marshall workshop. We re-calibrate against a digital reference before shipping; the calibration card is included in the box.

Hold spec: 65–70°F · 65–70% RH. Recharge: Boveda 84 every 60–90 days at home use, 30–45 days in dry climates.

Capacity

The 150 is a working number — 150 corona-to-toro sticks with the divider installed, 175 without. The divider drops out without tools and is rebatable on either side.

  • 175 sticks · without divider · single-vitola flat-pack
  • 120 sticks · with divider · churchill + gordo mix to a 60 ring
Cedar Specs

Solid Spanish cedar (cedrela odorata), not the Mexican cedar most mass-market humidors use as a substitute. Spanish cedar is the standard for premium humidors because it deters tobacco beetles, regulates humidity passively, and carries a clean aroma that adds to the cigar's profile rather than competing with it.

Marshall kiln-dries the cedar to 7% MC before milling, which is drier than most factory specs (10–12% is common). The lower moisture content means the cedar absorbs more from the cigar + Boveda system, giving the box a longer working window between recharges.

Warranty & Service

Lifetime craftsmanship warranty from Daniel Marshall against any defect in materials or build. Briarwood services Marshall humidors in-house — refinishing, re-veneering, hardware replacement. Ship it to us, we'll send it back.

Boveda packs are stocked behind the counter; we'll mail replacements to your door on a 60-day cadence if you set up auto-ship at checkout.

Calibration

Holds 70/70. Doesn't move.

Every Marshall humidor that leaves Briarwood has been seasoned over a five-day cycle and re-calibrated against a digital reference at the counter. The card on the lid records the calibration date and the technician's initials.

The build

Four things you can feel.

Most humidors fail in the same four places. The Marshall doesn't fail in any of them — and the reason is in the build sheet.

Exterior

California burl walnut · HDF substrate

Cut from a single slab, mounted over a dimensionally stable substrate that holds shape across humidity cycles.

Interior

Solid Spanish cedar · 7% MC

Kiln-dried below industry standard for a longer working window between Boveda recharges.

Finish

Seven coats, hand-piano lacquer

Hand-rubbed between coats. The reflection is deep enough to use as a tray.

Hardware

Quadrant brass hinges · soft-stop

No slam, no rattle. The lid sits open at exactly 95° without holding.

"A humidor is a piece of furniture that lives with the cigars inside it. If you build it right, it ages with them. We build them right, and we sign them, because every one of them is going to outlive us both."
